Communiqué R.K.K. : Ces chiens méchants s'appellent... Mathilda, 16 ans (Chant, Basse )et Marie, 18 ans (Guitare, Choeurs )qui viennent de passer leur bac. Entre Pub Rock anglais et Soul US, un baby duo culotté vitaminé de sacrées musiciennes du neuf-un, qui écrivent, composent et relookent des standards comme : Je veux être Noir - Nino Ferrer ou Hold on I'm coming - Sam & Dave. Dans leur 1° album GOOD TIME, BAD GIRL le turbo-batteur Paco Sery donne le tempo et une section de cuivres tranchants pousse l'affaire. Sur scène, elles(et ils )seront 4 avec pour agrémenter la soirée, un mix Rock, Blues & Soul sixties de R.K.K.

BIO :

Matilda - 16 ans, Basse, Chant - et Marie - 18 ans, Guitare, Chours - se sont rencontrées en Septembre 2006 au collège Saint-Pierre - 91 BRUNOY.

Alors âgées de 13 et 15 ans, elles décident de monter leur premier groupe après un bouf sur Louie Louie : THE BAD DOGS.

Elles travaillent un répertoire de reprises Rock'n Soul et commencent à se faire connaître avec des concerts dans des bars rocks et au collège.

En décembre 2006 elles enregistrent leur première maquette aidées du cousin de Marie, Adrien 15 ans à la basse, et d'un batteur pro, Paco Sery ami de la famille. C'est lors de cette session qu'ont été enregistrés les morceaux Blues/Soul de l'album.

En 2007 elles ont l'occasion de jouer au Sunset avec leur mentor Paco Sery.

En 2008, elles commencent à composer et préparent leur premier album autoproduit : GOOD TIME, BAD GIRL, réalisé en grande partie « at home » et qui est sorti en octobre 2009 - distribution numérique : www.baddogs.fr, Itunes, Pepita, Fnac, Virgin, S.F.R., Nokia Store - distribution physique : Fnac, magasins spécialisés.

En 2009 elles ont également été sélectionnées pour l'album de la semaine CANAL +.

Dominique-Blanc Francard, une légende du son - T-Rex, Bowie, Pink-Floyd, Elton John, etc... - a eu la gentillesse de mixer un titre - je veux être noir - et de masteriser l'album.

D.J. ZEBRA travaille sur le remix d'un titre : I CAN'T EXPLAIN.

Elles sont actuellement diffusées sur une quinzaine de radios dont le réseau FERAROCK, LE MOUV' dans l'émission de D.J. ZEBRA et RADIO NOVA - les pépites de Rémy Kolpa Kopoul.

URGENT SUITE A DEUX CAMBRIOLAGES A LA FAC MUSICOLOGIE DEMANDE DE PRET MATERIEL

Il n'y a vraiment plus aucun sens de la collectivité! La fac de musicologie ou étudie ma fille (Marne la Vallée) vient de subir deux cambriolages.

Les deux studios qui servaient au cursus enregistrement, techniques du son ont été vidés, jusqu'au dernier câble, c'est vraiment dégueulasse (pour rester poli)!

En attendant le déblocage de budgets pour rééquiper les studios plus de 100 étudiants se retrouvent lésés dans leurs études.

Si vous avez du matos, même usagé (tables style mackie, interface digitales, micros, effets, câbles etc...) n'hésitez pas à me contacter,

je répercuterais l'info aux services administratifs de la Fac.

P.S. : Une alarme va être installée, les serrures changées et le protocole d'accès aux studios considérablement durci, mais un peu tard...

Anthony (Tony) Gorruso - trumpet

Recorded and performed (among others) as Lead trumpet with Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich, Spyro Gyra, shows and films such as Spamelot, 42 St., Miss Saigon, Crimes an and misdemeanors (woody allen) and is featured on hundreds of other recordings.

Daniel (Danny) Flam - Trombone/French Horn

Former Israel Philharmonic Tromboner. Danny has Played on more than 900 of albums in varaious genres. He has performed with artists such as Michel Legrand, Leonard Bernstein, Zubin Mehta, Yo-Yo ma, Bobby McFerrin and many more. Danny is an expert in various ethnic music genres including middle eastern music, modern jewish music, and more.

Charley Gordon - Trombone

NYC Broadway and Studio musician. Performed, recorded, and toured with Stevie Wonder, Joe Jackson, Bette Midler, Marc Anthony, Shakira, Incognito along with a seven year stint with Blood, Sweat & Tears. Performed jazz concerts with Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Andrew Hill, Clark Terry, Toshiko Akiyoshi Big Band, Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra ,Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra Jr. Currently a member of Ed Palermo's Frank Zappa Tribute Band.

Ron Bertolet Sax/Woodwinds

Ron's TV recording credits include "Living Single" with Queen Latifah and Bill Cosby's cartoon series "Little Bill". Ron has appeared on numerous jazz recordings with artists such as guitarist Mike Stern and has performed live with various different artists ranging from pop vocalist Bobby Caldwell to saxophonist Jeff Coffin of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.

Jack Bashkow - sax/woodwinds

Jack's Recording credits include Keith Richards; Marc Cohn; Buster Poindexter; Lionel Hampton; Frank Foster; Clarence Clemmons, New Kids On The Block; Naughty By Nature; Snap; Joan Jett; Grandmaster Flash; Rebecca Pidgeon; Southside Johnny; Baby Jane Dexter; Jane Olivor; Claude Nougaro; The 45 King; and Queen Latifah and others. Plays on broaway/off broadway. He is also listed in the 2006 "Who's Who in America."

Dominic Derasse - Trumpet

Dominic Derasse, trumpeter, graduated with first prize from the Paris Conservatory in his native France where he performed with the "Follies Bergere", the Michel Legrand orchestra, Pierre Boulez Ensemble Intercontemporain and the Paris Opera, among others. Mr. Derasse is sought after for both his versitility and his virtuosity. Principal Trumpet for the EOS Orchestra (in New York), he has also performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Orchestra of St. Luke's, the American Symphony, Concordia and over 25 broadway shows. He has appeared on numerous musical recordings, including more than 60 motion picture soundtracks and commercials for over 100 different companies. His most recognizable TV theme performance is probably for "NBC Nightly News."

Kenny Rampton - Trumpet

Kenny's first road gig was a world tour with The Ray Charles Orchestra. After leaving Ray Charles' band, Kenny went on the road with legendary jazz drummer Panama Francis and The Savoy Sultans and soon thereafter, with The Jimmy McGriff Quartet. As a sideman, Kenny has also performed with such greats as Charles Earland, Dr. John, Lionel Hampton, Slide Hampton, Jon Hendricks, Tommy Igoe and The Birdland Big Band, Takeshi Inomata, Illinois Jacquet, Geoff Keezer, The Lincoln Center Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Eijiro Nakagawa, The Chico O'Farrill Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra, Dr. Lonnie Smith, The WDR Big Band, Joe Zawinul and a host of others. The Dixie Chicks aren't the only ones not ready to make nice.

Perhaps fearing White House retribution, NBC and the CW have reportedly refused to air ads for the documentary Dixie Chicks: Shut Up & Sing, according to the film's distributor, the Weinstein Co.

Harvey Weinstein, who runs the Weinstein Co. along with his brother, Bob, accused both networks of restricting free speech.

According to a Weinstein release, NBC wrote it "cannot accept these spots as they are disparaging to President Bush," while the CW allegedly made the excuse that it did "not have the appropriate programming in which to schedule this spot."

"It's a sad commentary about the level of fear in our society that a movie about a group of courageous entertainers who were blacklisted for exercising their right of free speech is now itself being blacklisted by corporate America," Weinstein said.

NBC did not comment on the claims, but the CW roundly denied that it had refused to accept the ads in question.

"The release is flat-out inaccurate," network spokesman Paul McGuire said in a statement. He said the CW had been involved in talks with the Weinstein Co., but they never progressed past where on the schedule the spot would run.

The documentary, which opens Friday in theaters in New York and Los Angeles, explores the controversy that erupted back in 2003 when singer Natalie Maines uttered the now infamous line, "We’re ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."

The incendiary words led to a massive backlash against the group. Country radio stations pulled Dixie Chicks albums out of rotation, protesters burned CDs and posters, and the band members even received death threats.

However, Maines, who later apologized for her remark, then rescinded the apology, has said she does not regret expressing her opinion, despite the impact it had on her career.

"I’m glad I used my free speech and spoke out against it. And I think I didn’t know, the day after, how glad I was that I said it—but today I have no regrets," she told Chris Matthews on Hardball Thursday.

Once the biggest-selling female group in history, the band was forced to rework its North American touring schedule last summer due to lackluster ticket sales across the South and Midwest.

The Chicks ultimately canceled shows in Houston, Memphis, Knoxville and Kansas City, replacing them with dates in Canada.

Shut Up & Sing isn't the first film to have its advertising campaign nixed by a major network. Earlier this week, CNN and NPR refused to air promotions for Death of a President, a faux documentary that deals with the fictional assassination of President Bush.

MarcyElle will be shooting her new music video in and around the Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen in late October.

“We begin shooting on Saturday Oct. 22 and will be shooting all that following week” says Johnny Punish, the producer of the video. “We expect to have it out by mid November. Our hope is to include the Mayan Culture mixed with the local artiste flavor of the area”.

Tips for Artists: Create Local Buzz For Your Band

One of the first goals a band should shoot for is to make it big in your regional area. Bands that do well in a region tend to get national and international recognition. Here are a few tips on creating some buzz around your band.

Play as many local shows as you can. Get to know all the good local bands and team up with them to put on shows in different cities in your area. Go on weekend tours. If your in Playa del Carmen, play in Merida, Cancun, Chetumal, Cozumel, and Puerto Aventuras. Get around the area.

Look for opportunities to team up with local business's or non profits. Non Profits love the help and they have many more resources at their disposal and are more likely to promote the event via media outlets.

Perform at as many schools or colleges as you can. These are actually rather easy to set up. It is more about finding the right person to talk to. Once you know who is in charge of booking shows for various school activities you'll be all set. Ask to play any festivals, school assemblies, parties, freshman orientation, back to school & end of school year events.

Get to know the influential people in your community. There are people in every scene that are naturally popular, they are trendsetters and people gravitate to them. When they speak people listen and they can sometimes make or break a band. When they say "this band rocks, or they put on an awesome live show" people will buy the album and will show up the show. So look for those kids, get to know them, and be sure to give them a free CD or invite them to a show.

Finally get as much press as you can. Make contacts with the newspaper editors, zines, regional newspapers, radio stations, and local tv programs. Send you press release out at least twice a month to these media contacts, you don't want to annoy them with emails everyday. The press release should look and sound as professional as possible. If writing is not your thing then you will need to find a friend preferably an aspiring publicist to help you out.

When you send out your press release include tour dates, CD release parties, CD reviews, when the band enters the studio, accomplishments like sales figures or when you hit #1 on the Isound.com chart etc. Don't be afraid to invite the local media to review your CD and come see you live. Be sure to always include them on the guest list.

Tips for Artists in the Riviera Maya: Communicate with your Fan Base

When building a fan base you will need a method to communicate with them on a regular basis. Make sure you build a solid email mailing list and have a great newsletter. Set up a newsletter and allow people to sign up via your website and at every show you play. You might even include some incentives to sign up for your newsletter.

Invest in some buttons or stickers which you will give away for free at your show when people join the mailing list. Your newsletter is a critical and direct form of communication with your fan base.

Make sure to use your newsletter to inform fans of your tour dates, new songs and studio updates. Keep the newsletters to a bi-monthly schedule. You don't want to over do it and have your fans unsubscribe and you don't want them to forget about your upcoming shows either.

If you really want to be innovative try setting up a text message mailing list. When people join your email mailing list ask for this information

Phone Number
City and Country

Add all your emails to your newsletter and organize phone numbers by city and country. With these phone numbers you can create text message newsletters by city. So 24 hours before you play a show in Mexico City. You can send out a text message to every fan in the Mexico City area to remind them of your show. We haven't seen anyone really do this effectively yet. But it will become the norm in the next few years. This is the future of the music business……grab onto it now!

For 2007, the team plans to release 2 CD compilations with 25 songs each from local indie music artists and friends of the studio. The CDs will be available in all stores with from Cancun to Playa del Carmen to Cozumel to Tulum and will feature the very best music from the area. Playing local bands like Lotto, MarcyElle, and others, The Bad Brad and Johnny Punish Show aim to promote the local music scene as drive us through the weekly happenings from deep in their jungle lair at the Mojo Zone Studio.

Bad Brad and MarcyElle Rock the Tequila Barrel at Playa del Carmen Benefit Show

Last nite, Bad Brad and Johnny Punish of the Mojo Zone Studio who appear on the Bad Brad and Johnhny Punish Pod cast show rocked the house at the Tequila Barrel in Playa del Carmen Mexico! That's right on 5th Avenue!

With special guests MarcyElle & Stacy, the band played all night long to a capacity crowd.

The show was a benefit for DJ of DJ's Bar in Playa. Bad Brad and the band played to a group of awesome playa peeps who reached out and donated the proceeds of the evening to DJ's medical bills.

DJ was seriously injured when his scooter was hit by a car late at night about 2 weeks ago. He is currently recovering from brain injuries here in Playa del Carmen.

The Mojo Zone Studio was pleased to contribute. Congrats to all the organizers of the event.
